The Sonny-S was built in 1948 by the
Nolan boatyards in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Originally built as a gillnet fishing vessel she plied the
Ohio waters of
Lake Erie for many years fishing mostly for yellow perch
until the State
of Ohio banned gillnetting on Ohio waters. She was then
converted to a
passenger vessel and was operated by Sonny-S Boat Line, Inc.
until 2010.
She is currently being leased to Island Service Company, who
is currently
operating her as
Middle Bass Ferry. |
